Sydney Harbour Federation Trust

The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust ("Harbour Trust") is an Australian Government agency established in 2001 to preserve and rehabilitate a number of defence and other Commonwealth lands in and around Sydney Harbour. These lands were off limits to the public, some for over 100 years. They are the lands of the Eora people.

Over the eighteen years, the Harbour Trust has remediated the lands and opened them to the public. Its vision is to create places that are inspiring, loved and shared. It is currently undertaking restoration work at the former HMAS Platypus site.

The Harbour Trust does not receive ongoing funding from the Australian Government: revenue from the adaptive reuse of its heritage properties are reinvested in ensuring the sites are open and accessible to the public.
