Barrister Syed Kamrul Islam Mohommod Salehuddin was a Language Movement veteran (1952) politician and the former Member of National Assembly of Pakistan (M.N.A) Faridpur 2, 1970, Member of Constituent Assembly Bangladesh (M.C.A) Faridpur 1972, Member of Parliament Bangladesh, (M.P) Faridpur-3, now Faridpur-1, 1973.

Born

Salehuddin was born on July 2, 1937, in Gopalgonj subdivision under Faridpur district. His native village is Bonomalidia, Madhukhali, Faridpur.his father name was Syed Mohammad Abdul Halim and Mather Saleha Khatun. His father was graduated from Calcutta University and then joined Undivided Bengal Civil Service. His father also involved with politics before joining the government service.Syed Mohammad Abdul Halim was a vice president of All Bengal Muslim Student Association. He was the Memorandum writer to including Khulna District in Pakistan in 1947.the Pakistan government awarded him TQA for this but he left this title in 1971, he was house arrest at the whole time Durning Liberation War 1971.he retired as an Deputy Secretary of Land Ministry after the Independence of Bangladesh. Salehuddin's mother was a daughter of Iskander Ali Khan a Police Inspector and a Zamindar of TiTa during British era.

Career

Salehuddin tested his first jail life in 22 February 1952 from a possession for language Movement in Barishal.he passed his Matriculation exam from jail in 1953 from Barishal B.M.Institutions. He passed IA from jail under Bagherhat P.C.College and BA from jail under Jessore Michael Madhusudan College. Then he joined pfizer Laboratories as Medical Representative.he joined Pogoze school as a teacher.he also act as a lecturer in a college of Cumilla. Salehuddin left the country for England in 1963 and Salehuddin call to the bar from the honorable Society of the Inner Temple in 1968. then he joined to the Queens Bench Division of the British apex Court. He was a member of the British Civil Service for four and half years.Salehuddin was elected Member of Pakistan National Assembly from Awami League(MNA, Faridpur 2, 1970), Member of Constituent Assembly(MCA, Awami League, Faridpur, 1972). He was elected to Parliament in 1973 from Faridpur-3.[1] he established Bangladesh Justice Party in 1980. He was able to send British parliamentarian and lawyer Sir Thomas Williams from London to Dhaka in defending Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 34 others in Agartala Conspiracy Case. When the Pakistan Students Federation took control of Pakistan High Commission in London on 7 July 1968 in connection to this case,he lead the group as well.Under his Leadership The Rights of East Pakistan Defence Front was formed in defending Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with 9 points demands including release of Bangabandhu immediately. English type press and information handout for the British Media is still in existence and preserved by his son Dr Syed Zaved Mohammad Salehuddin , but also took place appropriately in the 436 pages book of "Ayub Khan- Pakistan’s First Military Rular" published in 1996 from the Oxford University Press of London by Altaf Gauhar,information secretary of Pakistan's president Ayub Khan. Also attributed in detailed in the 288 pages book of " Bengal Politics in Britain ", published in 2010 from Lulu Publication in the United States by Faruque Ahmed.the most significant political magnificence of Barrister Salehuddin after the independence is that,at the desire of Bangabandhu's participation in the OIC's Islamic Conference held in Pakistan in 1974,he gathered Moulana Bhashani’s public support in a meeting in Paltan ground.Earlier to this, the formar minister Sohrab Hossain of public works was in coordination, but while en-route to Santosh late journalist Fazle Lohani and chairman of National People’s Party Sheikh Shawkat Hossain Nilu were accompanied with Barrister Salehuddin, that has been referred in the book " Pakistan to Bangladesh :Politics of 43 year's by Nilu too.reference :Muhammad Ali Bukhari,Dhaka:Our Time,06/01/2016 & The Daily Amader Orthoniti,Dhaka,25/12/2015.

Death

Salehuddin passed away on 24 May 1983 at PG hospital. He was buried Banani Graveyard at Dhaka, Bangladesh. He left one son Dr Syed Zaved Mohommod Salehuddin, one daughter Syeda Farzana Salehuddin and a wife Dilafroze Begum [2] A Technical Education College Barrister Syed Kamrul Islam Mohammad Salehuddin Technical College established in his native village Bonomalidia, Modhukhali, Faridpur under affiliation with Bangladesh Technical Education Board. He was involved to establish Banani Biddaniketan School and Banani Club, Dhaka.
