Taichung Municipal Taichung Second Senior High School

Taichung Municipal Taichung Second Senior High School is a senior high schools located in Taichung City, Taiwan. Founded in 1922 by the Governor's Office of Taiwan, it is named Taichung State Taichung Second Middle School, a middle school that recruited Japanese students during the Japanese occupation period. Now it is a member of the Central Five Schools Alliance (Taichung Big 5). It is also a member of the Four Provincial Schools in Taichung area.

History

The predecessor was the "Taichung State Taichung Second Middle School" founded in 1922 and the "Taichung State Taichung Second Girl's High School" in 1941. The former was mainly for Japanese students, and the latter was for Taiwanese students. After the end of the war, the Japanese middle school students were transferred to the two schools, and the Taiwanese students were transferred to Taichung First Middle school and Taichung First Girl's High School, and they(Japanese students and staffs) were repatriated in 1946 and then rescheduled. Later, it was called "Provincial Taichung Second Middle school" and the "Provincial Taichung Second Girl's Middle School". It was re-established at the latter and the campus of the former was given Taichung Agricultural School return to school. After the merger, both boys and girls are recruited. But stopped recruiting girls for 30 years. And they were resumed in 1982. So far, boys and girls have been recruited for 35 years.

  • In 1922, based on the "New Taiwan Education Order" promulgated by the first civil servant Taiwan Governor, Kenjiro Ta, Taichung State Taichung Second Middle School was established in Nanmen Tsai, Taichung City. At the beginning of the establishment, it was a school for recruiting Japanese students. Because there is already a Taichung State Taichung First Middle School (Now calledTaichung Municipal Taichung First Senior High School). Then, it is called the second middle school.
  • In 1941, Taichung State Taichung Second Girl's High School was established at the current campus.
  • In 1945, after World War II, the second middle school was reorganised into Taiwan Provincial Taichung Second Middle School, and the second girl's high school was reorganised as Taiwan Provincial Taichung Second Girl's High School. There were more than 500 Japanese students and 40 faculty members are in the school. The students of the second girl's high school were transferred to Taichung First Girl's High School. And the students of the latter transferred to the former.
  • In the spring of 1946, all Japanese students were repatriated to Japan, and the two schools were also closed.
  • In the autumn of 1946, Taichung Second Middle School was merged with Taichung Second Girl's Middle School. And it was re-established at the second girl's middle school. The original school site was given to the Taichung Agricultural School. Still known as the Provincial Taichung Second Middle School.
  • In July 1952, stopped recruiting girls.
  • In the autumn of 1955, in order to implement the government air defence evacuation plan, a branch was created in Taiping Township, Taichung County.
  • In 1968, so as to implement the policy, received "Taichung Municipal Taichung Second Middle School" (Now calledDouble Ten Junior High School)'s male students. Ended the Taiping Division.
  • In August 1969, the name was changed to Taiwan Provincial Taichung Second Senior High School.
  • In November 1982, a musical experimental class was set up.

  • In 1983, re-admission of girls. Once again became a high school for boys and girls.
  • In August 1995, a special educational class was established.
  • On 1 February 2000, with the policy, it was reorganised into National Taichung Second Senior High School.
  • In March 2003, Arithmetic and Literary classes were set up. And the enrollment began in September of the same year.
  • In December 2012, the 90th anniversary of the school.
  • In December 2014, the new stadium was completed and opened.
  • In January 2017, the school name was changed to Taichung Municipal Taichung Second Senior High School.
  • On 11 December 2017, concluded with Hyogo Itami High School. This is the first sister school of Taichung Second Senior High School ever.
