The PlayStation version received mixed reviews according to the review aggregation website GameRankings.[2] Some magazines gave it positive to mixed reviews, months before its U.S. release date.[3][6][7][8][13] Next Generation called it "an arcade treatment of a sport that ought to be fun and exciting but winds up being mostly boring."[11] In Japan, Famitsu gave it a score of 25 out of 40 for the PlayStation version,[4] and 22 out of 40 for the Saturn version.[5]
