The Mad Whale

The Mad Whale is a 2017 American drama-thriller film directed by 9 different directors, which was produced by James Franco's Elysium Bandini Studios and the USC School of Cinematic Arts.[1] The film stars Camilla Belle, Dominic Rains, Summer Phoenix and James Franco. The film was premiered on 19 October 2017 at the Heartland Film Festival.[2]

Plot

The film takes place in the late 1800s. Isabel Wallace, a woman that gets committed to a women’s mental asylum by her husband. She claims she is not insane, but cannot get any representation because her husband is a well-respected minister. Wallace finds herself under the care of a new administrator, Dr. Benjamin Calhoun, who is trying a new program to help patients of the asylum by having them take part in a theatrical production of Herman Melville's 'Moby Dick'.

Shown at the Heartland Film Festival, and Newport Beach Film Festival, a student-critic from Ball State University gave the film a positive review.[2]
