"The Moving Finger" is a phrase from the poetic work known as the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam (verse 51 of a 19th-century English translation of the mystic poetic work written in the 11th or 12th century). It may also refer to the finger which writes upon the wall at Belshazzar's Feast.
