The Order of the Day

The Order of the Day (French: L'Ordre du jour) is a novel by the French writer Éric Vuillard.[1] In French it is described as a récit, while The Guardian described it as an historical essay with literary flourishes.[2] Benjamin Welton reviewed the book in The New York Journal of Books 24 Sept. 2018 as " bad history imbued with pop psychology and adorned with purple prose riddled with unnecessary diversions."[3]
