Ton Bakhuis

Ton Bakhuis (5 June 1953 – 17 April 2020) was a Dutch footballer and futsal goalkeeper.

As a footballer Bakhuis was a goalkeeper, playing for RVC.[1][2] In February 1980 he broke his leg during a friendly match in Zeist. He could not play the rest of the season, missing the competition matches and the international tour to Indonesia in April and May.[3]

As a futsal player Bakhuis was also a goalkeeper, playing for FV Snoekie.[1][4] He was part of the Netherlands national futsal team. He played his first international match on 10 October 1985 and played a total 28 international matches.[5] With the team he won the silver medal at the first Futsal World Championships, the 1989 FIFA Futsal World Championship in Ahoy, Rotterdam.[6] The Dutch team lost the final against Brazil with 2–1. The final was the last international match Bakuis played.

After his active football career, Bakhuis was also active as a goalkeeper trainer.[1]

Bakhuis died on 17 April 2020 due to illness, aged 66.[7][8]
