On the evening of 22 October 2020, host and founder Daryl Grove passed away after a long battle with colon cancer. His favorite soccer teams, the US Men‘s Soccer Team and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, sent their love and best wishes, along with many fans who mailed letters to cohost Taylor Rockwell at the "TSS Tower". Podcast hosts of other soccer podcasts, including Alexi Lalas, Joe Lowery, Jordan Angeli, The Cooligans, Grant Wahl, all paid their respect, and of course cohosts Ryan Bailey and especially Taylor Rockwell delivered extremely emotional tributes.

Rockwell says he will continue to host the Total Soccer Show and hopes to honor the legacy Daryl Grove has left. Ryan Bailey - of whom was cohosting over the past year and a half since Grove's diagnosis - stepped in to a Host position. Total Soccer Show spinoff production "MLS Assist" host Joseph Lowery also has stepped into an active hosting role through 2021.

Features

Game of the Week

The show picks several games each week and analyzes them, and also reports on any and all big soccer news. In addition, the show currently hosts the largest scouting database of the United States Soccer Federation. It is rumored that the USSF regularly listens in to the podcast for their scouting reports in lieu of doing any work of their own. Other national soccer federations have also been known to listen to their informative, in-depth World Cup group previews as a way of preparing for upcoming World Cup group stages. Daryl and Taylor have also been credited with the landmark finding: "things can in fact be two things, and not necessarily one thing."

The Wikipedia Game

The co-hosts compete to name a mystery player, based on clues from his or her Wikipedia page.

The 3-6-1 Hall of Fame

The co-hosts profile famous names who they feel have contributed to the growth of soccer in the United States of America.

The Weekend Review

At the end of the footballing week (late Sunday or Monday), Ryan Bailey and Taylor Rockwell (or a guest stepping in) take their pick of 3-5 top games in Europe, doing a deep dive into the tactics and interesting pieces to each game.

Show Support

The Total Soccer Show is supported based on ad reads and the TSS Scouting Network. The Scouting Network is a network where you can show monetary support for the show. In exchange, you can ask 1 question a month and have it answered on the air, guaranteed. As well, you get assigned a young player around the world and can submit scouting reports on said player to be read on the show. Special offers from ads read on the show as well as the Scouting Network signup can be found on the Total Soccer Show webpage.
