History and profile

Founded in 1995 as a private media outlet in Azerbaijan, Trend News Agency is a news provider in the Caucasus, Caspian region and the Central Asia. Ilgar Huseynov is the director general of the agency.

Trend News Agency has five news services - Azerbaijan, English, Russian, Turkish and Persian . The services provide news of countries and regions by placing more focus on ongoing events in languages appropriate to the specific audiences.

Analytical reports and feature articles highlight major political, economic, energy developments and financial articles from the South Caucasus, Iran, Turkey, and Central Asia.

Trend's specialized bulletins cover areas covering such sectors as politics, business, oil and gas, transport and logistics, finance and banking in Azerbaijan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan.

During the day the company produces news items in 5 languages including, English,[1] Azerbaijani,[2] Russian,[3] Turkish [4] and Persian.[5]

Trend founded in August 2015 the Baku International Policy and Security Network (BIPSN), a non-governmental think tank. Baku Network operates an expert network, including representatives of Azerbaijani and foreign academia and diplomatic circles, international politics and security experts. Trend is a member of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA),[6] World Association of Newspapers (WAN-IFRA),[7] and News agency world congress (NAWC).

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy has awarded Trend News Agency for active coverage of the country's export potential [8]

The Azerbaijan Banks Association awarded Trend News Agency in 2017 as one of its main media partners.

Trend News Agency has been repeatedly awarded for the contribution to the strengthening of relations between Azerbaijan and other countries, for active coverage of events in such spheres as culture and art, economy, oil and gas, banking, sports, including the First European Games (2015), as well as Islamic Solidarity Games (2017).

Trend News Agency was awarded in 2016, 2017, 2018 with the Honorary Diploma of the Russian Information and Cultural Center in Baku "For Creative Contribution to Coverage and Support for Russian-Azerbaijani Cooperation".

Trend News Agency was awarded with the diploma of the Zardabi Press Center for active coverage of Azerbaijan's banking and credit sectors.

Trend News Agency received Ugur prestigious national award in 2014. This award is annually given in different nominations to the companies which have played an important role in the strengthening and development of economy and business.
