Tropical Storm Sandra

The name Sandra has been used for three tropical cyclones worldwide, two in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and at least one in the Southern Hemisphere. The name Sandra is not to be confused with the name Sandy, which was retired in the Atlantic.

In the Eastern Pacific:

  • Hurricane Sandra (1985) – Powerful Category 3 hurricane that stayed in the open ocean.
  • Hurricane Sandra (2015) – Strong Category 4 which became the latest major hurricane to form in its season, and the strongest on record in the month of November.

In the Southwest Pacific:

  • Cyclone Sandra (2013) – Severe tropical cyclone that caused minor effects on land.
