Ulmus americana 'Littleford'
The American Elm cultivar Ulmus americana 'Littleford' was cloned from a tree in Hinsdale, Illinois, circa 1915 and first released in 1927.

Description
The tree is narrowly vase-shaped with larger and heavier leaves.
Pests and diseases
The clone's resistance to Dutch Elm Disease is not known, but the species as a whole is highly susceptible to the disease and Elm Yellows; it is also moderately preferred for feeding and reproduction by the adult Elm Leaf Beetle Xanthogaleruca luteola,[1] and highly preferred for feeding by the Japanese Beetle Popillia japonica [2][3] in the United States. U. americana is also the most susceptible of all the elms to verticillium wilt.[4][5]
Cultivation
'Littleford' was marketed by the Sherman Nursery, Charles City, Iowa, as late as 1957, but is no longer listed by that emporium or any other.[6] The tree is not known to have been introduced to Europe or Australasia.
