Universidad Eugenio María de Hostos (UNIREMOS) is a university in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Is named after Eugenio Maria de Hostos, He was an intellectual professor, philosopher, sociologist, and Puerto Rican writer. Born in Mayaguez Puerto Rico, called the Citizen of America for having given his existence to the fight for the independence of Puerto Rico, the unity of the Antilles, and Latin America. His other priority was education. He founded the first normal school in Santo Domingo. It is considered the precursor/founder of Sociology in America.
