"Up & Down" (Hangul: 위아래) is a song recorded by South Korean girl group EXID. It was released on August 27, 2014, by Banana Culture as a digital single and it was later included in the group's second extended play, Ah Yeah (2015) and the group's debut Japanese studio album, Trouble (2019).

A Japanese-language version of the song was released as their debut single in Japan on August 22, 2018, marking the return of member Solji.

Composition

The song was written and produced by Shinsadong Tiger, Beomi, member LE and Nyangi.[1]

Release

"Up & Down" was released in South Korea as a digital single on August 27, 2014.[2]

In Japan, the song was released as a single album titled Up & Down Special Edition on August 22, 2018, as the group's debut Japanese single.[3]

Commercial performance

The song debuted at number 34 on the Gaon Digital Chart on the week ending November 22, 2014.[4] In its second week, the song placed at number 7, followed by three consecutive weeks at number 5 and a new peak at number 3 in its sixth week.[5][6][7][8][9] The song topped the chart on the week ending January 3, 2015.[10]

The song was the 77th best-selling song of 2014 with over 525,183 downloads sold.[11][12][13] It was also the 28th best-selling song of 2015 with 971,632 downloads sold.[14][15] It has sold over 1,496,815 downloads as of December 2015.

Japanese version

The single album debuted at number 15 on Oricon Singles Chart in its daily chart, and peaked at number 7 in its seventh day.[16][17]

The single debuted at number 18 on Oricon Singles Chart in its weekly chart, with 7,710 copies sold.[18]
