Urali Gounder
Urali Gounder is the combinations of the words Ur ("land") and Al ("people"), with the word "Gounder", which means "protector of the country".
The Urali Gounder caste is a sub-caste of Gounder community found in the southern and western regions of Tamil Nadu is a caste in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
The Urali Gounder caste where also classified as a Forward Caste (General class) at the time of Indian independence but they successfully requested to be reclassified as a Backward Class in 1975 like the Kongu Vellalar Caste.[1]
Notable people
- U.Thaniyarasu, founder of Tamil Nadu Kongu Ilaingar Peravai, is considered for Gounder and Kongu Vellalar based caste outfit party in Tamil Nadu.
