Vadalur
Vadalur is a panchayat town in Cuddalore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is 208 km from Chennai, the state capital of Tamil Nadu. Vadalur is the most developed town in Cuddalore.

History
Ramalinga Swamigal, popularly called Vallalar, established the Sathyagnana Sabhai. He built a famous temple which serves lunch on all days in a year. Thousands of visitors flocks on festivals and monthly pooja dates in this temple. Vadalur is well connected by rail and road. It serves transport to all major cities like Trichy, Chennai, Tanjore, Puducherry and Kumbakonam.
Festivals
The Thai Poosam function in January is a festival of this place. The Swamigal sang thousands of songs called Thiru Arutppa. This district was named after him for a while. On Thai Poosam thousands of devotees from all over Tamil Nadu visits the temple. More than 10,000 stalls and other entertainment are available for at least a week for the pilgrimages. People serve food, water and fresh juices to the devotees who visit the temple.
Demographics
As of 2011 India census,[2] Vadalur had a population of 39,514. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Vadalur has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 61%. In Vadalur, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. Literacy level is high because of private schools and government schools. Vadalur runs a ceramic factory called Neycer which employs a good number of people from the same place.
