Vathsal Govind

Vathsal Govind Sharma (born 2 January 2000) is an Indian cricketer.[1] He made his first-class debut for Kerala in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy on 14 December 2018.[2][3]

Early life

Vathsal was born on Delhi to Govind Kanakan and Ruma Govind Sharma. He started playing cricket at the age of five. His family moved to Kerala on 2016.[4] Vathsal is a degree student at Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur.[5]

Domestic cricket

Vathsal was selected to play for Delhi Under-16 team in 2015. On 2016 his family moved to Kerala were he continued his cricketing career. He was part of the India green team on Challenger trophy.[6][7] He later captained Kerala Under-19 team for Cooch Behar Trophy in 2018-19 season and ended up being the top run-getter of the season with 1235 runs from 8 matches.[8][9] His heroics in Cooch Behar Trophy pave way to Kerala 2018-19 Ranji Trophy squad as he replaced an injured Rohan Prem.[10] He debuted for Kerala on 14 December 2018 against Delhi.[2] He along with his Kerala teammate Varun Nayanar was selected to play the four day test match for India A against SouthAfrica A.[11] He was included in the Kerala squad for 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on December 31 2020.[12]
