Victoriano Sánchez Arminio

Victoriano Sánchez Arminio (born 26 June 1942 Santander, Spain) was a Spanish international football referee.[1]

Career

He officiated 10 international matches and was member of FIFA[2] in 1978–1989. He attributed a group match in 1986 World Cup played between Argentina-South Korea (3:1), three matches in World Cup qualifying 1982 (1) and 1986 (2), EURO 1988 qualifying[3] and others were in friendly matches. He also refereed a match in 1984 Olympic Games.

In club football he officiated some UEFA competition matches such as Champions League (3), UEFA Cup (13) and Cup Winners Cup (2).[4] He officiated 1989 UEFA Cup Final 2nd leg played between VfB Stuttgart and Napoli (3:3). He refereed 149 La Liga matches in 1971-89 and 3 Copa del Rey matches in 1981–89. He refereed 1989 Copa del Rey Final which was his farewall match.[5]

Personal life

After active refereeing career he was chairman of the Technical Committee of the Spanish Football Association, National Referees Committee from 15 March 1993 to 2018.[6][7]

Awards

In 1981 he was awarded Guruceta Trophy that is Referee of the Year in Spain.
