Like all of the early metropolitans of Karlovci, Vikentije also spent his early career in the Patriarchate of Peć where he received his education.[2]

Under Popović-Hadžilavić's leadership, two monasteries were rebuilt and a residence was built in Sremski Karlovci.[3]
