Volvok (Doctor Who)

Volvok was a 1984, two-part Doctor Who serial written by actor Ian Marter,[1] and was intended for Season 22.[2]

Synopsis

The Doctor and Peri land in a crowded hospital and discover that an alien considered the name ’Volvok’, is trying to use the hospital as a feeding ground for the Volvok's energy, and the Doctor decides to stop Volvok's plan of harvesting of humans in the hospital and feed somewhere else and leave the patients alive.

Production

Marter worked on commissioning a storyline entitlement. It was originally called as ”Strange Encounter”,[2] and was submitted on February 2, 1984.[1] The story title for the first episode was changed to Volvok, but the story was dropped from production[3][1] at the beginning of 1985, due to Ian Marter not continuing the story idea any further.

In the aftermath when Marter continued with the works of Doctor Who novels by Target Books, Ian Marter sadly died on October 28, 1986 after suffering from diabetes.
