What's On Kyiv


What's On Kyiv or What's On Kiev is a monthly English-language magazine published in Ukraine's capital Kyiv.[1] It is dedicated to covering the culture and entertainment in the city.

Style

The magazine is an entertainment and culture magazine, with references also to current events. What's On has a reputation as a reliable publication and is unafraid of poking fun at public figures or politicians.

History

The magazine was founded in 1999, the first Editor In Chief was Amanda Pitt. Peter Dickinson then edited What's On between 2001 and 2007. The editor after Dickinson was Neil Campbell. Campbell handed over editorial duties in 2011 to Lana Nicole Niland. What's On was then owned by PAN Publishing, who also published Panorama, the in-flight magazine of Ukraine International Airlines. The magazine ceased regular publication after the 2013/14 Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine. In the summer of 2014 a special edition of What's On was published, the "Chronicle of a Revolution" was a compendium of the news and photo coverage and some feature articles that had been published in What's On during the 12-week period of the revolution.

What's On returned in September 2017, now published on a monthly basis. The magazine is now owned by Outpost Publishing, Lana Nicole Niland is the owner and Editor in Chief of this publication.

What's On is read widely in the expatriate (business and diplomatic) community. For this reason it is distributed free of charge directly to embassies and businesses. The magazine is also read by large numbers of English speaking Ukrainians who pick up the magazine at other distribution points such as bars, restaurants, business centres and other places around the city.
