William Masterson

William Francis Masterson, SJ (Brooklyn, December 17,1910 Cagayan De Oro, September 5,1984)[1][2][3] was an American Jesuit Priest who was a pioneer in multinational education and an inspiration to rural leaders prompting their return to and love of the land in the Philippines. He was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1974.[4]

He was the founder of the Xavier University College of Agriculture (XUCA).[5][6]

The Cagayan De Oro City Airport-Bukidnon Highway was renamed as the Masterson Avenue in his honor.[7][8]

He was also a Past Rector and University President of the Ateneo De Manila University, serving from May 14, 1947 until March 15, 1950.[9]
