Willy García

Willy Camilo García Archivol (born September 4, 1992) is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder for the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball. He previously played for the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Career

Pittsburgh Pirates

García signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates as an international free agent in February 2010. He made his professional debut that season with the Dominican Summer League Pirates. He spent 2011 with the Gulf Coast Pirates and State College Spikes, 2012 with the West Virginia Power and 2013 with Bradenton Marauders. In June 2013, he set the Marauders team record for hits in a game with six.[1] García played 2014 with the Double-A Altoona Curve.[2] He was added to the 40-man roster on November 20, 2014.[3] On December 31, 2016, García was designated for assignment by the Pirates.[4]

Chicago White Sox

García was claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox on January 6, 2017.[5] The White Sox promoted him to the major leagues on April 14.[6] On March 9, 2018, he was released.

Winnipeg Goldeyes

On February 11, 2019, García signed with the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the independent American Association.[7] Before the 2019 season, he was selected for Dominican Republic national baseball team at the 2019 Pan American Games Qualifier,[8] and he later played at the 2019 Pan American Games.
