His career was cut short due to injuries.[6]

      Personal life

On March 14, 2012, after two years of dating, Russell married stylist Sanne Hamers, whom he met in the Netherlands while playing hockey.[11][12] The couple separated on March 2, 2015, and divorced amicably on October 24, 2017.[13][14]

After meeting on the set of the film Folk Hero & Funny Guy in 2015, Russell began a relationship with actress Meredith Hagner.[15] They became engaged in December 2018 and married in 2019.[16] In November 2020, it was announced that they were expecting their first child.[17]
