Xi'an South railway station

Xi'an South railway station (Chinese: 西安南站) is a railway station in Chang'an, Xi'an, Shaanxi, China. It is on the north–south Xi'an–Ankang railway. This is an intermediate stop for some services coming from the south that continue north or east, avoiding central Xi'an. Other services continue to Xi'an railway station instead of, or in addition to, stopping here.

History

This station was previously known as Chang'an railway station. On 1 July 2006 it was renamed Xi'an South.[1]

Future

A new railway station, Xi'an East railway station, is expected to be built to the north of this station. Xi'an East will be closer to Xi'an and is expected to replace Xi'an South. Meanwhile, a new east–west high-speed station also called Xi'an South will be built southwest of Chang'an.[2]
