Yaku Pérez Guartambel

Yaku Sacha Pérez Guartambel (born Carlos Ranulfo, 26 February 1969) is an Ecuadorian politician and indigenous rights activist. He is ethnically Cañari.[1] A member of the Pachakutik Party, he is a presidential candidate for the 2021 Ecuadorian general election. Guartambel served as president of ECUARUNARI, an indigenous rights organization, from 2013 to 2019, and it was on their behalf that he participated in the 2019 demonstrations against incumbent Ecuadorian president Lenín Moreno. On 14 May 2019, he was then elected as Provincial Prefect of the Azuay Province.[2]
