Yuriy Savchenko

Yuriy Sergeyevich Savchenko (Russian Юрий Сергеевич Савченко) (born 27 November 1945 in Chita, Soviet Union) was a Soviet footballer as forward and international football referee.[1]

Player career

Yuriy Savchenko played as forward for some Soviet football clubs such as FC Torpedo Moscow in 1968–70, FC Lokomotiv Moscow in 1971. He played 56 matches in Soviet Top League only for FC Torpedo Moscow and scored 6 goals.[2] He scored a winning goal in 1968 Soviet Cup that won Pakhtakor Tashkent by 1:0.[3]

Referee career

After footballer career he became referee in 1977[4] and officiated two international matches in 1986–88. He officiated a 1990 World Cup qualifying match[5] and other was in friendly match in 1986 which played between Germany-Spain (2:2) in Hanover. He also attributed a match in 1985 U20 World Cup.

In club football he refereed some UEFA competition matches such as UEFA Cup (6) and Cup Winners Cup (1).[6] He officiated 120 Soviet Top League matches in 1981-91 and 26 Russian Premier League matches in 1992–93.
