Zambil Frosh

Zambil Frosh (Kurdish: زه مبيل فروش ,Zembîlfiroş, lit. 'Basket seller')[1][2] is the most important work of Kurdish writer and poet Faqi Tayran.[3] Zambil Frosh is based on a true story, transmitted from generation to generation through oral tradition.[4] Zambil Frosh is considered Kurdish folklore.[5]

Summary

The plot revolves around Prince Saed, son of Prince Hassan who ruled Farqîn near Diyarbakır.[6][7] Prince Hassan was an evil governor and disliked by Prince Saed who migrated from Diyarbakır southward to Zakho. There, he remained and began selling baskets. His grave is located in Batifa in present-day Dohuk Governorate.[8]
