Zedge is content distribution platforms. Its content platform enables consumers to personalize their mobile devices with free, high-quality ringtones, wallpapers, home screen app icons, widgets and notification sounds. The company is evolving by developing new apps run on top of its publishing platform and which focus on the entertainment vertical. Zedge's creators are amateur and professional artists as well as brands that can easily launch a virtual storefront in Zedge allowing them to easily market and sell their content to Zedge's global user base. Zedge's app has been downloaded more than 436 million times, has 30 million monthly active users as of August 31, 2020 and has consistently averaged in the ‘Top 60’ most popular free apps in Google Play in the US. IDT Corp. was majority investor in Zedge Holdings, the app's parent company, until mid-2016.[2]

History

Zedge was founded by Tom Arnøy, Kenneth Sundnes, and Paul Shaw in Norway in 2003.[4] In June 2016, Zedge's parent company was spun off from IDT as a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.[5] As of 2018 it has offices in Trondheim, Vilnius, and New York City.
