Aha (streaming service)

Aha (stylized as aha) is an Indian over-the-top streaming service owned by Arha Media & Broadcasting Private Limited, a joint venture by Geetha Arts and My Home Group which offers Telugu-language content.[2][3] Launched officially on March 25, 2020 which was soft launched on January 25, 2020.[4][5]

History

Allu Aravind revealed that he was enamoured into the digital environment and developed a habit of binge - watching. Soon he came up with the idea of starting a streaming platform for hosting Telugu content solely. He then discussed the idea with his family,who encouraged and which lead to talks with Rameswar Rao Jupally who joined as a partner in the venture. Ajit Thakur heads the platform.[6]

Launch

The platform is launched officially on 25 March 2020 coinciding with Telugu New Year (Ugadi).[6]

Original content

The service is loaded with films from pre-over the top era from various production houses. Arjun Suravaram, Kaithi Telugu dubbed version and Choosi Choodangaane are the first set of the feature films acquired by the service as official streaming partner.[6]

Original Shows/Series

The original scripted content debuted on the service during the soft launch was Kotthaporadu, Shithappens and Geetha Subhramanyam 2020.[7] Masti's created by Krish was debuted on February 8, 2020. For the first year the scripted original content includes 25 original shows.[8][9] Talk show Sam Jam with Samantha Akkineni as its host premiered on Aha on 13 November 2020.[10] Aha is planning to offer over 50 original shows for the year 2021.[11]

Original Films

The original films debuted on the service during the COVID-19 pandemic, theatres have been shut due to curfew imposed by government and most films which scheduled theatrical release have been shifted to online release. Aha have acquired many films to be presented as Aha original films.

Marketing

After opting for a soft launch on 8 February 2020 an event named aha Preview was conducted where all the film makers who worked on ''aha Originals'' attended and presented their work.[46]
