Cal Poly was a two-year school until 1941, and competed in the California Coast Conference (CCC). The team was led by fifth-year head coach Al Agosti and played home games in San Luis Obispo, California. They finished the season with a record of four wins and five losses (4–5, 0–2 CCC). Overall, the Mustangs outscored their opponents 110–81 for the season.
