The season would prove to be one where they would finish outside the top two for the 4th consecutive season, by finishing 4th for the second consecutive season, seven points outside the automatic promotion places.
It was also a season to forget as far as the FA Cup was concerned with Liverpool losing two-one by Worcester City, then in the Southern League, and one league below the Football League at that time.
