2020–21 Sporting de Gijón season

The 2020–21 Sporting de Gijón season is the club's 115th season in existence and the club's fourth consecutive season in the second division of Spanish football. In addition to the domestic league, Sporting Gijón participated in this season's edition of the Copa del Rey. The season covers the period from 21 July 2020 to 30 June 2021.

Season overview

On 21 July, David Gallego was named new head coach of the club.[1]

September

Real Sporting started the season without signing any player. The club beat 1–0 debutants UD Logroñés through a last-minute goal of Uroš Đurđević. In the third round, Real Sporting became leader of the league after the wins at Cartagena, with the first goal of José Gragera as professional, and against Girona, with a brace of Đurđević.

October

After the fourth consecutive win, thanks to the fourth goal of Đurđević, the Serbian forward was named Player of the Month.[2]
