  • January 8 – Tommy Lasorda, 93, LA Dodgers Manager from 1976 to 1996 and won 2 World Series Titles in 1981 and 1988.[10]
  • January 20 – Don Sutton, 75, Pitcher who played for 7 Major League Baseball teams for 23 seasons and color commentator for Atlanta Braves games on TBS.[11]
  • January 21 – Hank Aaron, 86, Played 22 seasons for the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves from 1954 until he retired in 1976.[12]
