Abd al-Rahman ibn Aqeel (Arabic: عبدالرحمن ابن عقيل) was one of Hussain ibn Ali's companions; he was killed in the battle of Karbala; and is regarded/named among the martyrs of Karbala. His father was Aqeel ibn Abi Talib,[1][2][3] and his mother was a slave women.[4][5][6] Meanwhile Abd al-Rahman was one of Ali ibn Abi Talib's son-in-law, and his wife was Khadija (the daughter of Ali).[7][8][9]

Abd al-Rahman entered the battlefield at the army of Hussain on the day of Ashura, and recited the following Rajaz (epic verses):

"My father is Aqeel, (then) you (ought to) know my position; I am from the descendant of Hashim, and Hashim is my brother."
