History

In September 2018, the Board of Directors of Schibsted announced their intention to demerge its international online classifieds operations into a separately listed company.[5] On 10 April 2019, Adevinta shares began trading on the Oslo Børs, following its €6 billion IPO.

In July 2020, Adevinta won the bid to acquire eBay's classified ads business in a deal worth US$9.2 billion.[6] The marketplaces included brands such as Gumtree and Kijiji, in return for which eBay became a 44% owner of Adevinta with a 33.3% voting stake in the company.[7] The deal is expected to be completed in 2021.[8]

Adevinta invests in Series A and B rounds in European early-stage internet startups, through its dedicated investment arm Adevinta Ventures. They primarily back startups in the automotive, employment, education and property sectors. Its portfolio includes Kodit.io (August 2018),[9] Flatfair (September 2019),[10] Medwing (May 2020)[11] and BiPi (2020).
