Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary

The Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in southern Nigeria, and covers 104 km2.[1]

Founded in 2000 with the idea of providing refuge to the most endangered animal species, such as the Cross River gorilla, the Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzee, the drill and the gray-necked rockfowl.

In the western part, there is the largest wintering ground of the European swallow in Africa, where over 20 million of these birds live during the winter.[2]
