Aishwarya Arjun

Aishwarya Arjun is an Indian film actress who has acted in Tamil and Kannada movies. She made her film debut in the Tamil film Pattathu Yaanai in 2013.[1]

Personal life

Aishwarya Arjun was born in Bangalore, Karnataka and is the daughter of popular film actor and director arjun and former actress Asharani. She has a younger sister, Anjana.[2] Her grandfather Shakti Prasad and cousin of Late Chiranjeevi Sarja was a popular actor in Kannada. Her cousin Dhruva Sarja is also a popular actor in Kannada.

Early life

Aishwarya Arjun was born in Bangalore, Karnataka. She belongs to a storied film family. Her father is the well-known actor-director Arjun Sarja and her mother is former actress Niveditha Arjun who goes by her stage name Asha Rani. She has a younger sister, Anjana Arjun[3] who works as a fashion designer in New York. Both her grandfathers are also popular Kannada actors. While her paternal grandfather Shakti Prasad was one of the most famous villains of his time, her maternal grandfather Rajesh is a highly respected actor who had given many successful films as a main lead during his time. Her cousins Chiranjeevi Sarja and Dhruva Sarja are also popular Kannada actors. Aishwarya completed her schooling from Sacred Heart, Church Park in Chennai and then received her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Stella Maris College, Chennai. She also briefly pursued a Fashion degree at Birmingham City University, United Kingdom.

Aishwarya has also trained in different forms of dances like Kathak, Jazz, Contemporary, Freestyle and Bollywood. She has trained for five to six years in Jazz and completed three to four exams. She has performed a lot during her school life; even placing first in a 50-school dance concert called ‘Lapaak’ where she was also awarded Star of the Show. Aishwarya's first public appearance was with her father for a Sanjana Jon fashion show intended to help the cause of girl child. After this appearance this most beautiful South Indian actress started getting film offers.[4][5]

Career

Aishwarya Arjun forayed into films in 2013 with the Tamil-language action-comedy Pattathu Yaanai opposite Vishal. The story revolves around Sravanan (Vishal) who, along with his four friends, steps in as a junior cook to help Gouravam (Santhanam) for a local goon’s wedding but ends up in more trouble and flees Karaikudi and reaches Trichy where he meets Aishwarya (Aishwarya Arjun). The film was dubbed in Telugu as Dheerudu. Next, she acted in Sollividavaa (2018) opposite Chandan Kumar. This was also simultaneously made in Kannada titled Prema Baraha that marked Aishwarya Arjun’s Kannada debut. In the film, Aishwarya played Madhu to Chandan Kumar’s Sanjay - two journalists from rival news organizations who don't have a good equation. However, when the two of them are forced to work together covering the Kargil War, a bond gets forged between them. For Prema Baraha, Aishwarya received the Filmibeat Award for Best Debutant Actress (Kannada), Chitra Sante Award for Best Debut and got nominated for SIIMA Award for Best Debutant Actor in a Leading Role (Female) - Kannada. For the film, Aishwarya learned Kathak and participated in acting workshops conducted by Kishore Namit Kapoor and Anupam Kher’s institute in Mumbai. Her introduction number in the film had a combination of two polar opposite styles - Bharatnatyam and Popping and was choreographed by the Chicago twin sisters. She went through a strenuous four-day training session in order to adapt the postures, form, and movements of Bharatnatyam that were completely different from Kathak. Aishwarya has also appeared in a television commercial for Bingo Yummitos the success of which prompted a second commercial with the same team.[6]
