Alen Šeranić

Alen Šeranić (born 1977) is a Bosnian politician and doctor who currently serves as Minister of Health and Social Welfare for the Government of Republika Srpska. A member of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, he previously served as Minister of Science and Technology.[1]

Biography

Alen Šeranić was born in 1977 in Banja Luka, where he attended elementary and high school. In 2004 he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Banja Luka, specializing in family medicine in 2007. In 2010 he enrolled at Keele University in the United Kingdom, where he graduated in 2015 with a specialty in Epidemiology.

Following medical school, Šeranić spent three years at the Ključ Health Center as a doctor of family medicine. after which he served in various capacities with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare until 2018. On May 8, 2018, Šeranić was elected to succeed Jasmin Komić as Minister of Science and Technology.[2]

After the 2018 Bosnian election and the formation of a new government in Republika Srpska, Šeranić was made Minister of Health and Social Welfare. On December 18, 2018 Šeranić officially took office in the National Assembly and his position as Minister, succeeding Dragan Bogdanić in the role.[3]
