Alphonse Constantin

Alphonse Constantin (born 17 May 1949 in Liège, Belgium) was a Belgian international football referee.[1]

Career

He officiated 16 international matchesand was member of FIFA in 1985–1993. He attributed three EURO qualifying matches 1988 (1), 1992 (2) and two World Cup qualifying matches 1990 (1), 1994 (1)[2] and others were in friendly matches. He gave a red card in 1994 World Cup qualification match played between Spain-Republic of Ireland (2:0) to spanish Juanma López in 59th minute.[3]

In club football he officiated some UEFA competition matches such as Champions League (2), UEFA Cup (14) and Cup Winners Cup (6).[4] He refereed 106 Belgian First Division A matches in 1988-93. He also officiated three Belgian Cup Final in 1985-86, 1991-92 and 1992-93.

Personal life

He was awarded two times Referee of Year in Belgium in 1992 and 1993.[5] After active refereeing career he was General manager of Standard Liège from February 2002 to January 2003, which is football club of his home city. In fact that he refereed 1992–93 Belgian Cup played between Standard Liège and Sporting Charleroi 2:0 which was few years ago of his election to Standard Liège's president.[6][7]
