Anthony Martin (bishop)

The Most Rev. Anthony Martin, DD, MA[1] was an Anglican priest[2] in Ireland[3] during the first half of the 17th-century. [4]

Martin was born in County Galway and educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge[5] and Trinity College, Cambridge.[6] Martin became Vicar of Yagoestown in 1618. He was Prebendary of Castleknock[7] at St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin from 1619 to 1620;[8] and Archdeacon of Dublin from then until 1625.[9] He was also Rector of Battersea, Treasurer of Cashel Cathedral[10] and Dean of Waterford[11] 'in commendam

Martin was the Bishop of Meath[12] from 1624[13] (and Provost[14] of Trinity College Dublin)[15] until his death in July 1650.[16]
