Aspropyrgos railway station


Aspropyrgos Railway Station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Ασπροπύργου, romanized: Sidirodromikós Stathmós Aspropýrgou) is a train station in the municipality of Aspropyrgos, West Attica, Greece. The station is located north of the residential area, on the Athens Airport–Patras railway. The station is served by Line 2 of Proastiakos Athens between Piraeus and Kiato.[2]

History

It opened on 18 July 2006 and is adjacent to the Thriasian Plain freight yard owned by OSE.[3][4][5][6] It has two side platforms. It should not be confused with the older station on the Piraeus–Patras railway that is located further south, inside the town of Aspropyrgos.

Facilities

As of (2020) the station has waiting shelters on the platforms and staffed booking office. There are lifts and stairs to the central raised Island platform. The station is equipped with a large car park and a forecourt at the entrance to the station.
