Overview
The Audi e-tron GT Concept prototype was presented for the first time in November 2018 in Los Angeles. It was a study preview of the third fully electric car built by Audi after the e-tron and e-tron Sportback SUVs.[1]
The production model had its premiere in November 2020, to emphasize the pre-production character, gaining a characteristic black and gray veneer with orange accents and overlays on the alloy wheels.[2] The Audi e-tron GT extensively recreated the design of the studio model with muscular wheel arches, aggressively styled headlights, and a large hexagonal radiator grille imitation. The gently sloping roof line was crowned with one-piece, soaring lamps connected by a luminous strip.[3]
The car shares technical components with the related Porsche Taycan,[4] just like it; despite the sporty coupe-style silhouette,[5] it is a 4-door sedan.[6]
Series production of the e-tron GT started 2 months before its debut, in December 2020.[7] Unlike the e-tron and e-tron Sportback models manufactured in Belgium, it is the first Audi electric car to be produced in Germany's home country at the Neckarsulm plant.[8] The sale of the vehicle is expected to start in March 2021.[9]
The fully electric driveline of the Audi e-tron GT is powered by a 93.4 kWh battery as well as two electric motors with a total output of 646 hp. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and also develops a maximum of 250 km/h.[10] The range of the vehicle on a single charge is to be about 400 kilometers.[11]
