Baths of Arcadius

The Baths of Arcadius (Latin: Thermae Arcadiane) were a Roman bath located in Constantinople, the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire. It is unknown whether the baths were founded by Emperor Arcadius, or by his daughter, Arcadia. Either way, the construction was finished in 394. Some suggest Arcadia and another woman named Marina constructed the building. It is entirely possible that Arcadius had started constructing the baths, and Arcadia finished it.[1] Once finished the baths occupied the site where the seraglio would eventually be located.[2]
