Bearded wood partridge

The bearded wood partridge (Dendrortyx barbatus) is a bird species in the family Odontophoridae. It is medium-sized with a long tail.[2] It is distributed in the temperate forest of the Sierra Madre Oriental (SMO) mountain range in Mexico.[3] Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forest and plantations. The Santo Domingo River in northern Oaxaca and western slope of the Sierra Madre Oriental, act as a biogeographic barriers and mark the distribution limits between these species.[4] It is threatened by habitat loss. Defining its national risk category requires further knowledge of their current distribution range.[4]
