Bill Nass

William Nicholaus Lyimo (born 11 April 1993), popularly known by his stage name Bill Nass,[1][2][3] is a Tanzanian rapper. MTV Base named him among the "50 Artists To Watch For In 2017".[4][5] Months after the release of his debut single "Raha",[6] Lyimo was nominated on 2015's Kilimanjaro Tanzania Music Awards (KTMA) as a "New Best Artist".[7][8]

Early life

William Nicholaus Lyimo was born on 11 April 1993, at Bombo Hospital in Tanga Tanzania to parents of Moshi origin. He got inspired to do music by the likes of Albert Mangwair, Langa, Dully Sykes, Chidi Beenz, Ja rule, Lil Wayne, Jay Z and The Game. Bill Nass didn't like to live close to his parents, so he decided to leave his home to find his source of income through music which has been his whole-time job.[9]

Education

Bill Nass started his primary education at Mbuyuni Primary School in Tanga 2000 – 2003 then moved to Mkunguni Primary School in Kinondoni Dar es Salaam. He Later joined Oysterbay Secondary School in 2007 to 2010 where he graduated his secondary studies. From 2011 to 2013, he studied for a diploma in Procurement and supplies management at the College Of Business Education Dar es Salaam Campus. In 2014 he rejoined the college until 2017 where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Procurement and supplies Management[10][11]

Career

Lyimo rose to fame after the release of his debut single "Raha" featuring Naaziz.[12] MTV Base named him as one of the "Best 50 Artists to Watch For In 2017. Later In 2017, Nass made his debut on Coke Studio Africa as a Big Break Artist, performed alongside Uganda's Sheeba and Ethiopia's Asgegenew.[13][14][15]

Lyimo has performed several times on Fiesta a concert that has been managed by Clouds Fm Radio for years. Also in 2019, he performed on Wasafi Festival's[16] stage alongside Nigerian Wizkid, Tiwa Savage and Tanzanian award-winning Diamond Platnumz.

With 16 songs on his BoomPlay account, November 7, 2020, the music marketing platform announced Bill Nass performing more than one million streams without an EP or album.[17]

Through his instagram page, Bill Nass shared the advent of "Love Tour" with his fiancée Nandy who have two songs together "Bugana[18]" and "Do Me".[19] The two made the tour which started on Nov 20 in Manyoni Singida and ended in Kahama Shinyanga on November 22. 2020.

Over the past five years, Bill Nass has successfully recruited more than 4 million fans online.

Personal life

In 2018, Lyimo and his fiancée Nandy, were briefly detained by the Tanzanian authorities for sharing what they considered as being indecent online content.[21]

Bill Nass proposed to Nandy early in 2020 on a live TV show.[22][23][24][25]
