Blinds.com was founded by Jay Steinfeld in 2004 from a previous online window coverings venture. By 2006, the company was named #186 on the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide as well as the 10th fastest-growing e-commerce company on the list.[2]

In 2009, Blinds.com was given the Marketer of the Year Award by the American Marketing Association, in recognition of its innovative marketing strategy.[3]

In January 2014, Blinds.com was acquired by The Home Depot.[4]

Innovation

To enhance and personalize the window covering shopping experience, Blinds.com developed and released "The Window Shopper", an augmented reality mobile shopping app for iOS (2011) and Android (2012).[5]

In response to demand for window coverings that could be installed quickly and easily, CMO Daniel Cotlar led a partnership with a manufacturing vendor to design a window shade that could be installed without tools or adhesive. This led to the company's patent-pending Instafit shade product.[6]
