History
Bluepoint Games' first title, Blast Factor (2006), launched when Sony debuted its PlayStation 3, and was one of only two downloadable PS3 games available at the time.[5]
On August 31, 2009, it was announced that remastered versions of God of War and God of War II would be coming to the PlayStation 3 as God of War Collection.[6] The ports were handled by Bluepoint Games and released on November 17, 2009 in North America.[6][7] God of War Collection was then released in other regions from March to April 2010.
At the 2010 Tokyo Game Show, it was announced that Bluepoint Games would be handling a second wave of high-definition remasters for PlayStation consoles, this time remastering the PlayStation 2 games Ico and Shadow of the Colossus as The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection for the PlayStation 3 for release in North America, Japan and Europe in September 2011.[8][9] Years later, in 2018, Bluepoint would remake Shadow of the Colossus for the PlayStation 4.[10] They also handled the remastered HD versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence included in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, which was released on November 8, 2011.[11][12]
Bluepoint Games collaborated with SuperBot Entertainment to develop PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (2012).[13] SuperBot Entertainment, the original developers of the PS3 version, built the game using the Bluepoint Engine.[14] Bluepoint Games was brought in to develop the PlayStation Vita version of the project.[13] The game supported cross-play between PS3 and PS Vita.[15]
Thanks to Bluepoint's development of well-received ports, Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts selected Bluepoint as their co-development partner for the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall, which released in 2014.[16] In the meanwhile, Santa Monica Studio contracted with Bluepoint Games to also create remastered ports of Flower for the PS4 and PS Vita, which were published in November 2013 to correspond with the release of the PS4.[17][18]
After Titanfall, Bluepoint Games remastered the three PS3 releases of the Uncharted franchise, bringing them to the PS4 via the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.[19] The collection was also released as a featured bundle with the PS4 for the 2015 holiday season.[20] Similar to how Bluepoint Games remastered Flower during their time co-developing Titanfall, during the development of the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Bluepoint remastered the PS4 version of Gravity Rush Remastered, which released in Japan at the end of 2015 and internationally in early 2016.[21][22]
In June 2020, Bluepoint Games announced a remake of Demon's Souls which released as a launch title for PlayStation 5 in November 2020 to universal acclaim from critics.[23][24]
