History

"Bug Powder Dust" reached number 24 in the UK charts,[2] makes an appearance in many rundowns of 'classic' British hip-hop and rap tracks, and was voted Select magazine's s single of the year in 1994.[3]

The track incorporates a bassline by Alphonso Johnson, as performed on the title track of Flora Purim's album, Open Your Eyes, You Can Fly. Johnson is probably best known as having been with the jazz-fusion group Weather Report.

A video for the song was directed by Alex Winter.

In 2013 O*Solo Recordings releases a new EP called Mega Dis containing a new version of the song titled "Bug Powder Dust (2013 ReDusted)."

The words "bug powder dust", and several other lyrics, are references to American writer William S. Burroughs, specifically to his 1959 novel, Naked Lunch.
