Sound

Butchered at Birth was the Cannibal Corpse album to establish their trademark, death metal style,[2] as many say that their first album, Eaten Back to Life, had more thrash elements to it.[3] Chris Barnes' vocals became noticeably lower, as this is the first time fans experienced his associated "inhuman" grunting. Barnes is often credited with the sound change, as the album's producer, label and where it was produced is the same as Eaten Back to Life.
